Maintenance Windows

Suppress alerts during planned downtime so your team isn't paged unnecessarily.

A maintenance window tells OpsKitty to continue checking your endpoints as normal but to hold all alert notifications during a specified time period. This prevents your on-call team from being woken up by expected downtime — deployments, database migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and similar planned events.

Creating a maintenance window

  1. 1

Go to Dashboard → Websites, open the website, and click Maintenance Windows.

  2. 2

Click Add Window and fill in the name, start time, end time, and optionally a recurrence.

  3. 3

Save. The window becomes active at the scheduled start time and deactivates automatically at the end time.

Window fields

  • Name — a descriptive label (e.g., "Weekly deployment").
  • Start / end time — exact start and end in your local timezone.
  • Recurrence — none (one-time), daily, or weekly.
  • Scope — applies to all endpoints under the website.

Status page behavior

While a maintenance window is active, the affected components on your status page display an "Under Maintenance" badge. Checks continue to run so you can see results in the dashboard, but failures during the window do not advance the alert failure counter and no notifications are sent.

Tip: Schedule the window to end 15–30 minutes after your expected maintenance completion time to give a buffer. If maintenance finishes early, you can delete the window to re-enable alerts immediately.
